What is Body Splint used for?
Rescue teams use the Body Splint to immobilize the head, neck, and spine of a seated patient before extrication. Some call it a Kendrick Extrication Device, or KED. Rigid supports run along the spine for stability. The surrounding vinyl-coated nylon stays flexible enough to slide behind the patient. Once color-coded straps are fastened, the device locks into a rigid form around the torso.
